About Roger and Cherie

Roger and Cherie Hanggi have worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators for the past 25 years. They first served in Cameroon, Africa for two terms. They have now returned to the U.S. and Roger is helping build a collaborative environment where mission partners from many organizations share information, coordinate plans, and shape strategies. It is amazing to see so many diverse missions learning to work and serve together.

God is Bigger than… Everything!

Aug 15, 2020

This has been a very tough year for everyone. We have faced a global pandemic that threatens lives and health, as well as jobs and economies. We have had to adjust our lifestyles and decisions—wearing masks and avoiding big gatherings—because we care about our family near us and people around us. We have grown impatient […]

Through Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL, we are committed to work in partnership with global and local organizations that share the vision and mission of Bible translation. Working together, we just celebrated a major milestone: the completion of the 700th full Bible! Take a couple of minutes to view a brief video (click this link) […]

May 15, 2020

Photo by Marc Ewell. This article is copied from the SIL website at www.sil.org. Roger is a member of both Wycliffe and SIL. A Wycliffe Christmas Message

Dec 4, 2019

I will soon mail to all our support team an end of year message, as this has been a big and eventful year in ministry. But right now, rather than boasting about what I have done, I invite you to click on this link and celebrate what God is doing through Bible translation. This is […]

Making every effort

May 24, 2019

This past week, I led devotions for our small team and we explored 2 Peter 3:14-16. As we reflected on this message, we heard Peter’s challenging words, “Make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with him [God].” One of my teammates shared honest confusion that she did not know how to […]

2018 in Review

Jan 31, 2019

As I work for Wycliffe Bible Translators, I am sometimes asked which languages I translate. The challenge of describing that I do not work in one language, but at a global level, is also an opportunity to communicate the wide impact of my work: identifying needs; measuring progress; supporting informed strategies; and most importantly helping […]

Growing as a Leader

Dec 10, 2018

Two weeks ago, I was in Lima, Peru for a week of “leadership training“. In most organizations, this would teach concepts such as managing people, strategy formulation, budget planning, and corporate culture. I was both pleased and blessed to discover that for us, leadership training helped us explore four pillars at the heart of our work. So […]

Mom’s Homecoming

Oct 20, 2018

When we moved to Minnesota in April, we came for the purpose of helping my parents so they could continue to live at home. My mom has had severe arthritis since her teens and lived in constant pain through the last decades. Over the past years, she has been able to walk short distances only […]

God of the impossible

Oct 15, 2018

The famous missionary Hudson Taylor is well known for his confidence in the power of God’s work when he wrote, “There are three stages to every great work of God; first it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.”  We feel this same conviction as we observe what God has done in missions […]

A Celebration and Hope of Peace In a War-torn Country

Aug 14, 2018

The Keliko came from all over. Most lived in the area in refugee camps. Others walked, rode bicycles or hitched rides from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). International visitors flew in from South Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Germany, England, Canada and the United States. All converged on a small town in […]
